The aim of this research project is to:
Gain more information about how parents of deaf children seek to communicate with their children.
See if hearing parents who use different communication modalities for language-based communication (ASL, speech, cued speech), use similar non-linguistic communication practices (gestures, facial expression, and body language).
Learn more about the relationship between parent communication modality (ASL, speech, cued speech) and parent non-linguistic communication practices (gestures, facial expression and body language) and a child?s secure attachment.
Families who have at least one deaf children between the ages of 8 and 12 and at least one hearing parent are eligible to participate.
Program participants will be given the opportunity to have receive a $60 gift card or to have a donation made to a deafness-related charity of your choice(please remember ASDC) and the child will receive a $10 gift card.
